In times of emergency and medical need, every drop of blood counts. At Hospital Quirurgica del Sur we are proud to have the Frederic Durán Blood Bank which offers services dedicated to providing a reliable and safe supply of blood for patients in need.
Donation process.
Identification: Show your ID with photo (INE, passport or driver's license)
Control: A series of basic questions will be asked to clear you as a candidate, then the quality of the veins will be assessed. If they are suitable, a sample will be taken and you will get a biometry screening. If the values in that test are within parameters, the medical interview will continue for a quick assessment.
Donation: To draw blood takes between 8-12 minutes and a total volume of 480 ml.
Recovery: You will remain at rest for 10-15 minutes and will be given a snack since it is important to replace the volume drawn through liquids and food.
Donating is fast and easy.
The process takes between 8 and 12 minutes, with a volume of 480 ml of blood extracted. To donate, you only need to show a document proving your identity (INE or passport) and fill out a brief medical questionnaire to proceed with taking a blood and blood pressure sample. If the parameters are within normal limits, the donation process will continue.
Remember to drink a lot of fluids and have an abundant meal before going back to your activities!
